What is it?

Meals on Wheels is a community based program designed to provide 2/3 of the daily nutritional requirements for homebound clients who cannot cook or grocery shop for themselves and have a diagnosed health problem. Local kitchens are in Hopewell Township, Aliquippa, Beaver, Beaver Falls, Chippewa, Rochester, Conway, and Ambridge.

Volunteers deliver both a hot and a cold meal at noon, five days a week. The success of the Meals on Wheels Program depends upon the dedicated volunteers who assist the cook in the kitchen, drive and deliver the meals, work on the Steering Committee or provide baked goods for the clients.

Kitchen Aid

Work in the kitchen helping the cook prepare the day's meal. Report at approximately 7:45am and work until 10:30am. Duties would include but not be limited to making sandwiches, salads, gelatins and puddings, packaging canned fruits amd the hot meals. Aid is also responsible for clean-up after meal preparation and packaging. Aids are needed any weekday morning.

Drivers and Deliverers

Deliver the meals to the recipients. Work in teams of two, one who drives his/her own vehicle and one who hops the meals into each house. The report time is at 10:45am and dependent upon the route assigned, the route will take approximately 1-2 hours. Drivers and deliverers are needed any weekday.
