Beaver Alumni Society golf outing nets record-breaking total of $28,000
The Penn State Beaver Alumni Society broke its own record in September when they netted more than $28,000 at its 13th annual golf outing held Sept. 9 at Seven Oaks Country Club with 120 players. Last year’s outing raised $24,000. Proceeds benefit the society’s endowed scholarships for Beaver campus students. To date, the Alumni Society has raised more than $200,000 for the campus.
“This year’s outing was amazing,” said Diana Patterson, Beaver campus director of development and campus liaison for the Alumni Society. “Our Golf Team Committee did an incredible job of soliciting sponsorships and gifts and getting players involved. It’s always so rewarding for them to know that our students benefit from their efforts.” The team from Kip’s Ice Cream won first place, marking the second consecutive year the team has taken top honors. Team members were Nick Andrews, Shane Hecht, John Murawski and Don Ware. Andrews Industrial Controls won second place with members Brady Barbero, Bryan Dunn, Matt Morich and Mike Onisko. Each first-place winner received a $75 gift certificate and each second-place winner received a $60 gift certificate for Seven Oaks Pro Shop. Winners of the skills competition were Steve Ellis of the PNC Wealth Management team, longest drive, hole No. 3; Bob Janeda with PLS Logistics, longest first putt, hole No. 18; Chris Demos of the Long Shots team, closest to the pin, hole No. 11; and Gene Adamowski, Gray Family team, hole-in-one on hole No. 4. He received a Kindle Fire tablet.
