Beaver grad is named to position at New Kensington

10/31/2011 —

Penn State Beaver alumnus Justin Vorbach has been named admissions counselor at Penn State New Kensington. Vorbach graduated from Beaver in May with a baccalaureate degree in business.

Vorbach is responsible for recruiting and counseling prospective students with the focus on traditional age students. In addition, he is adviser to the Lion Ambassadors, a student organization designed to provide interaction with the campus community, the University, and the public.

‘Justin brings both knowledge and enthusiasm about Penn State to this position,’ said Patty Brady, director of enrollment management. ‘He is passionate about the benefits of attending the New Kensington campus.’

Vorbach spent part of his senior year working as an intern in the Beaver Admissions Office and was highly regarded by the staff.
‘Justin did a great job in quickly learning how the admissions process works, but his personality and his ability to put people at ease was very important, too,’ said Dan Pinchot, Beaver’s director of enrollment and one of Vorbach’s internship supervisors. ‘He was active in almost every event on campus in some way, and there were very few people here who didn’t know Justin,’ Pinchot said.

Vorbach was the 2011 recipient of the University’s prestigious Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award which is given to one student at each Penn State campus who demonstrates outstanding character, scholarship, and leadership.

Vorbach, along with Pinchot and Cathy Benscoter, marketing and Web specialist, won a 2010 Gold CUPPIE Award in the Advertising Campaign category from CUPRAP: The Association of Communicators in Education. The award was for ‘Get In On The Secret,’ a campaign featuring personalized postcards and t-shirts packaged as books that were mailed to prospective students.

Vorbach can be contacted at New Kensington, 724-334-6018.
