Lady Lions were No. 4 seed in USCAA National Softball Tournament
For the fifth consecutive year, the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team qualified for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament which began Friday, May 6. This year's tournament -- co-hosted by Penn State Beaver and the Akron Racers, a professional fast-pitch team from the National Pro Fast-pitch League -- was held at Firestone Stadium, home of the Akron Racers, Akron, Ohio.
In the eight-team field, Beaver entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and took on No. 5 seed Spalding University (Louisville, KY) in day one of the tournament. The Lady Lions also played an evening game.
Rochester College (Rochester Hills, Mich.) received the No. 1 seed, and Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods (Terre Haut, Ind.) was the No. 2 seed. The No. 3 seed was St. Joseph's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and remaining participants were No. 6 seed Penn State Mont Alto, No. 7 seed Judson College (Judson, Ala.), and No. 8 seed Penn College of Technology. Along with Beaver, Penn College and Mont Alto are members of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC).
