Free gospel choir concert will close Brodhead Cultural Center season
The Sons of Thunder Gospel Choir will close out the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center’s 34th summer season of programming with a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, in the J.P. Giusti Amphitheater on campus. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move into the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building. The event is open to the public.
This summer’s Brodhead Cultural Center corporate partner was Clearview Federal Credit Union. Programming cosponsors were The Times, ARA Corporation, The Idea Works, and Beaver Valley Musicians Union Local 82-545.
The Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association will sell hot and cold refreshments prior to and during the concert. Sale proceeds benefit the Alumni Chapter’s scholarships for Beaver campus students.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Mill Creek Valley Historical Association will staff and host free tours of the Baker-Dungan Museum located on the hill overlooking the J. P. Giusti Amphitheater. The museum, which is open to the public, contains a variety of local historical artifacts, tools, furniture, clothing, art and other displays. This year’s theme at the museum is the Beaver County Hookstown Fair.
