Former Beaver student receives Evan Pugh Scholar Award
Former Penn State Beaver student Samuel R. Wilton has received the Penn State Evan Pugh Scholar Award. Wilton, a senior at Penn State University Park, is an engineering science major from Pittsburgh.
Evan Pugh scholars are juniors and seniors in the upper 0.5 percent of their respective classes at the end of the fall semester of the academic year the award is given. Awardees have cumulative grade-point averages of 3.99 and above.
The Evan Pugh Scholar Awards began in 1933 and were given to the top five persons in both the junior and senior classes. The award is named for Evan Pugh, Penn State's first president (1859-1864).
