Band 'Screaming Orphans' to launch BeaverFest Week with concert
A free concert by the Screaming Orphans will be held at noon on April 26, on Penn State Beaver’s main lawn to launch BeaverFest Week, which will run from April 26 to 30, prior to final exams. BeaverFest Week, which is sponsored by the Student Government Association, will feature a series of programs and events for Beaver students with free food, giveaways, prizes and T-shirts. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Lodge of the Student Union Building.
The Screaming Orphans is a pop-rock band comprised of four sisters from Donegal, Ireland, who came to the United States when Sinead O’Connor asked them to back her on a North American tour. Their sound has been compared to the Bangles and the Cranberries while their musical influences include the Beatles, the Indigo Girls, ABBA, and R.E.M. as well as traditional Irish music.
