Faculty, students assist Girl Scouts in STEM career exploration

4/24/2009 —
This month Penn State Beaver hosted girl scouts, ages 13 to 16, from Beaver and Lawrence County to participate in hands-on activities that explored careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through the Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) program. The on-campus activities were led by freshmen IST majors Marisa Zilla and Cherise Green and sophomore science major Rachel Shegog. The event was coordinated and implemented by Dr. Patrice Clemson, instructor in IST, and Dr. Angela Fishman, instructor in mathematics.
