Blood Drive also benefits THON, pediatric cancer patients

2/6/2009 —

On Monday, Feb. 16 the Penn State Beaver Student Government Association, the campus THON Committee, and the American Red Cross will sponsor a Blood Drive, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the Lodge of the campus Student Union Building. For every unit of blood donated, the Red Cross will donate $2 to THON, a Penn State student organization that raises millions of dollars for pediatric cancer patients at Hershey Medical Center through the annual Dance Marathon at Penn State University Park.

Blood reserves are extremely low, and all those who are able are urged to give blood. Anyone who donated at the Beaver campus November 2008 blood drive is eligible to donate on February 16.

To guarantee a time that fits an individual’s schedule, participants are asked to register to give blood by visiting www.givelife.org. However, anyone who wishes to walk in without an appointment is encouraged to donate as well.

For information, contact SGA president Stephanie Shearer, ses1014@psu.edu, or Beth Vincenti, Beaver campus THON chairman, at eav5011@psu.edu.
