African refugee John Bul Dau will present free program on campus

1/23/2009 —

African refugee and humanitarian John Bul Dau, known as one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, will present a free program open to the public on Monday, Feb. 2 at noon in the auditorium of the Penn State Beaver Student Union Building. The courage and survival skills of Dau and other Sudanese refugees were featured in the 2006 Emmy-nominated documentary, God Grew Tired of Us, which chronicled the boys’ perilous journey as they fled Sudan to seek freedom in America over the course of 14 years and thousands of miles.

Dau is recognized internationally for his advocacy of human rights and his call to end the violence in Sudan through promoting cultural understanding and awareness of global issues.
Through his initiative, the Sudanese Lost Boys of New York Foundation was established as well as the American Care for Sudan Foundation.

Information about this program and others that are free to the public is available by contacting the Office of Student Affairs at dxt24@psu.edu or 724-773-3951.
