Zhe Hu receives Faculty Trustee Matching Scholarship
Sophomore finance major Zhe Hu is one of only two students chosen from across all Penn State locations to receive the Penn State Faculty Trustee Matching Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year. Zhe was born in FuZhou, China, before moving to Fort Lee, N.J. to attend high school.
The scholarship is designed to assist academically talented students who may or may not also be a family’s first-generation college student.
The Trustee Matching Scholarship Program aims to ensure that a Penn State education is accessible to qualified students, regardless of financial means. Implemented in 2002 upon approval by the University's Board of Trustees, the program is unique in that the University matches 5 percent of the principal of each gift annually and combines these funds with income from the endowment to effectively double the financial impact of the scholarship.
