Adult Literacy Action Offers Nine Community Outreach Centers

Penn State Beaver Adult Literacy Action (ALA) offers nine community outreach centers that provide a variety of skills and services for the public. Individuals in need of these services are encouraged to contact Nancy Woods, ALA director, at ALA’s office in Beaver at ncw1@psu.edu or 724-773-7810.
Skills taught at each location are as follows:

Beaver County Jail, Hopewell Township – Adult Basic Skills, General Educational Development (GED) Testing Preparation

Brodhead Site, Aliquippa – Adult Basic Skills, Family Literacy

CareerLink, Beaver Falls – Math, Pre-GED Testing Preparation, Workplace Skills

Center for Hope, Ambridge – Adult Basic Skills, GED Testing Preparation

Community College of Beaver County, Monaca – GED Testing Preparation

Help-a-Person (HAP) Enterprises, Hopewell Township – Special Needs / Mental Health Mental Retardation

Job Training of Beaver County, Monaca – GED Testing Preparation, Workplace Skills

Penn State Beaver, Monaca – English for Speakers of Other Languages

Rochester Community Center, Rochester – Adult Basic Skills, GED Testing Preparation, and Family Literacy
