Penn State School of Nursing Expands Program for School Nurses
Penn State Beaver’s Office of Continuing Education will offer a Professional Development Program for School Nurses beginning Monday, June 16. The program’s course offerings include timely topics, including healthy lifestyles for children and adolescents, drug abuse prevention, and helping students deal with crisis.
Courses are delivered in condensed formats designed to minimize impact summer time schedules. Participants can earn up to six credits within a two-week period. This summer Beaver campus will offer Nursing 597B - Legal and Professional Issues in School Nursing.
The Professional Development Program for School Nurses can help satisfy Act 48 requirements, and some courses may be applicable toward a master’s degree or other Penn State School of Nursing programs. Participants can enroll in individual offerings or complete a five-course core series to receive a Penn State certificate.
The Professional Development Program for School Nurses is supported by Penn State’s School of Nursing, College of Health and Human Development, and the Office of Continuing and Professional Education.
