Lady Lions Lose Two More after PSUAC Defeat

On Friday, May 2 the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team lost a doubleheader against Grove City College in non-conference play at home, 8-0 and 2-0.

In game one, freshman Kayla Chambers (South Side High School) pitched six solid innings, giving up four hits, walking one, and striking out six. Junior Sam Neely pitched in the seventh inning, but four errors hurt the Lady Lions as Grove City scored eight to win the game.

Offensively, the Lady Lions pounded out twelve hits led by sophomores Jamie Clouse (Laurel High School) and Alonna Verrico (Rochester High School) and senior Becky Garcia (Riverside High School), all with three hits each. 

In game two, Grove City scored one in the fourth inning and one in the sixth to take the win. Beaver sophomore Chelsea Brownlee (Avella High School) pitched six strong innings, giving up seven hits, walking one, and striking out two. Garcia doubled in the loss.

The Lady Lions are now 23-22 in overall play.
