Beaver Hands Hazleton Its First Conference Loss, Defeats Wilkes-Barre
The Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions enjoyed a winning weekend at home when they defeated two conference opponents. They beat Penn State Hazleton, 78-66, on Friday and Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 82-42, on Saturday. Beaver's win on Friday broke the perfect conference record that Hazleton was carrying.
In Friday's game sophomore Zack Fetchin (Hopewell High School) led Beaver with 34 points and 11 rebounds and shot 11-11 from the line. Freshman Chancellor Humphrey (Hopewell High School) added 17 points and sophomore Tim Kubis (Hopewell High School) had seven assists and four steals. In the game against Wilkes-Barre, Fetchin scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds. Sophomore Joe Daransky (Center High School) posted an additional 12 points while Fetchin contributed seven steals. Kubis led the team with seven assists.
The Beaver men are now 6-11 overall and 6-4 in the conference. They return to action at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, when they host Penn State DuBois in a conference game.
