Freshman Sandusky Honored Twice This Year By USCAA
Freshman Heather Sandusky is the first Penn State Beaver athlete to be honored twice by the USCAA in two different sports during one academic year. Sandusky, a member of the Beaver campus Lady Lions basketball team, was named the USCAA’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after she helped lead Beaver to a 2-1 record last week. During the fall semester she was named USCAA Volleyball Player of the Week while playing for the PSUAC championship.
Last week, in a loss against USCAA second-ranked Southern Virginia University, Sandusky recorded 29 points and 10 rebounds, including her first collegiate double-double. She scored 20 points against PSUAC rival Penn College, including a free throw with 2.2 seconds remaining, to give the Lady Lions a 68-67 conference victory. She also scored 20 points in a win over Penn State Mount Alto. Sandusky’s week average was 23 points and 6 rebounds. Sandusky is an applied psychology major from New Brighton.
