Chapin Publications Are Announced
Dr. John Chapin, associate professor of communications, wrote an article entitled ‘Third-person Perception About Domestic Violence Among Experts’ which was published in the December 2007 issue of the North American Journal of Psychology.
In addition, two other articles he authored will appear early this year. ‘Third-person Perception and Racism’ will appear in the International Journal of Communication, and ‘Youth Perceptions of School Violence’ will be published in Adolescence.
The articles were generated through community partnerships with two Pittsburgh agencies, Crisis Center North and the Center for Race Relations and Anti-Racism Training. Chapin has been recognized both regionally and state-wide for his work with Pittsburgh’s Crisis Center North. The center works to help serve victims of domestic and relationship violence, held beliefs and behaviors which perpetuate it.
