Penn State Beaver Volunteers Will Observe MLK Day
MONACA, PA - Penn State Beaver will observe the annual Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, Jan. 21 by encouraging the campus community to participate in “A Day On, Not a Day Off” at the Center for Hope in Ambridge.
No classes will be held, but the campus will be open for business from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The campus chapter of the Delta Mu Sigma Mu student community service organization and the Office of Student Affairs will work with students, faculty, and staff from Beaver and Shenango campuses at the Center for Hope, which provides outreach services to those experiencing economic hardships and changes in a distressed community. Campus volunteers will work with the Center’s food pantry, computer lab, clothes closet, tutoring, disability services, literacy and life skills programs, and the program to assist pregnant women.
