Administration Building Parking Lot (Lot B) and Campus Roadway:
The campus is rebuilding the parking lot near the Lion Shrine as well as the roadway between the Laboratory Classroom Building (LCB) and the intersection near the Gym parking lot. (A large storm water project is also connected).
This project is scheduled for completion by Friday, August 9. There will be times when walkways and roadways around the Ross Administration Building, the Lion Shrine and the Gym will need to be closed for several weeks.
Parking Lot B in front of the Lion Shrine will be closed all summer. In addition, the Gym lots will be closed for a limited period of time in order to rebuild and resurface the intersection. If you currently use Lot B or the Gym lots, you’ll need to use other campus lots when those close.
The following walkways will close for several days to several weeks.
a) The walk from the upper RAB entrance to the SUB
b) The walk from the upper RAB entrance to the western part of campus
c) The walkways from central campus to Lot B
d) The walkway from the Lion Shrine to the Gym intersection.
The following roadways will be closed.
a) From LCB to the Gym intersection (all summer).
b) From the entry to rear Student Union Building parking lot (Lot F) to the Gym intersection, as needed.
PLEASE NOTE: Lot F near the lower RAB entrance may need to be closed periodically for several hours at a time to accommodate the delivery of materials to the site.
We’ll be working with the contractor to keep as many of the walkways and roadways open as possible, but this may require the use of temporary sidewalks.
This project will expand the Bistro plaza and create an amphitheater-style seating area.
a) The area in front of the Bistro entrance will be closed in June.
b) The walk between the upper SUB entrance and the Bistro (closest to the SUB) will be closed and removed.
c) The larger walkway that parallels this will remain open.
SUB Entry (near the Lodge):
The entry door and walkways will be replaced and repairs will be made to the interior flooring. This entrance will be closed during construction which is tentatively scheduled for the end of July.
The first phase will be an asbestos abatement in the mechanical room.
This will require the closure of the following areas from July 1 through July 8:
- The stairwell near the SUB Lodge entrance
- The door to the outside at the bottom of this stairwell
- The hallway between the stairwell and the mechanical room
- The mechanical room
- The entrance into the Bookstore on the SUB side (the outside entrance will be open)
Beginning on July 8, the building entrance near the counseling and residence life offices (101 SUB) will be closed. The offices will be open for business as usual. Construction in this area should be completed by July 26.
The walkways between the Student Union Building and the Ross Administration building will be removed and rebuilt between July 17 and July 26. Between these dates there will be times when the walkway between the buildings will be closed. Do not attempt to cross these areas when they are closed.
A section of the roof will be replaced above the GCB offices.
Harmony Hall Bathrooms:
Because the bathrooms in Harmony Hall are being renovated, the area around Harmony Hall will be an active construction area since materials will be removed and delivered.
