Special anniversary reception will honor former Center Theatre members

Former cast, crew, and orchestra members of the Center Theatre Players (formerly known as the Center Theatre Company) are invited to attend a reception honoring the group’s 30th anniversary of presenting shows for the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center.

The reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, in the Special Events Room of the Beaver campus Student Union Building prior to the closing night performance of the group’s production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” The show, which will also be presented July 26 and 27, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building auditorium.

The group was established and is directed by Sandy Reigel, a lifelong Monaca (Center Township) resident and Penn State alumna who has taught chorus, acting, and musical theatre for Center High School and Central Valley School District for 25 years.

“My goal is to gather our current and former theatre company members together on July 28 to celebrate the work we’ve done through the years,” Reigel said. “Anyone who worked as a cast, crew, or orchestra member for any of our shows over the past 30 years is welcome to attend.”

Reservations for the reception must be received by Wednesday, July 18. To make reservations or purchase tickets for the musical, contact the Brodhead Cultural Center at 724-773-3610 or rxm70@psu.edu.

The musical, directed by Sandy Reigel, is part of the 36th summer season of programming presented by the Cultural Center and sponsored by The Times, Beaver Valley Musicians Union Local 82-545, and Eat’n Park Hospitality Group.

‘Superstar’ was recognized as a groundbreaking rock opera that electrified audiences when it opened in 1971.
