Rock 'n Roar Music Fest to take place Sept. 23 at Penn State Beaver
Penn State Beaver's free Rock 'n Roar Music Fest will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Brodhead Cultural Center's J. P. Giusti Amphitheater. The concert, which is Beaver's sixth annual free fall concert, is co-sponsored by The Beaver County Times.

Campus will hold 10th annual Beaver County College Fair
Penn State Beaver will hold the 10th annual Beaver County College Fair from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, in the campus gymnasium. The free event, which is the premier college fair serving Beaver county students, is co-sponsored by Penn State Beaver and the Beaver County Times. Registration to attend is not required, and the public welcome. Adults as well as high school students -- especially juniors and seniors -- are encouraged to attend.

Public invited to attend poetry reading by Penn State laureate
The public is invited to attend a poetry reading and book signing by Robin Becker, Penn State laureate, at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28 in the Penn State Beaver Student Union Building. A reception will be held following the poetry reading.

Lady Lions continue community outreach with Girls Hope
The Labor Day holiday didn't deter the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions basketball team as they continued their community service and outreach by volunteering to work at Girls Hope of Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 5. Girls Hope, a residential facility in Baden, Pa., is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization designed to help girls who are victims of neglect or poverty, yet capable of academic achievement. Under the direction of Bridget Cook, community resource
coordinator for Girls Hope, the Lady Lions swept, mopped, dusted, polished and scrubbed various rooms in the facility.

Penn State Beaver Theatre's will present spring children's play
"Tales from Mother Goose," a group of short plays based on a variety of the famous children's rhymes, will be presented by Penn State Beaver Theatre in the spring semester of 2011. The production will be directed by Carol Schafer, associate professor of theatre, integrative arts and women's studies. School groups and other organizations are invited to attend the play which will be held at 10 a.m on Tuesday, March 29; Thursday, March 31; Tuesday, April 5;
Thursday, April 7; Tuesday, April 12, and Thursday, April 14. On April 7, an 11:30 a.m. show also will be presented. A performance open to the general public will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 10. The play will be presented in the auditorium of the Student Union Building. Tickets are $3 per person. Continuing Education is offering Landscape Technology certificate
The Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education is offering a certificate program in Sustainable Landscape Technology. The program is designed not only for the beginning landscaper, but as a refresher course for the established landscape contractor. The sustainable landscape technology certificate is a 17-credit, six-course program that can lead to an associate degree. It is an accelerated program that can be completed in 15 months. The schedule includes evening classes that begin in October of 2010 and run through December of 2011.
