The mission of Adult Literacy Action (ALA) of Penn State Beaver is to foster literacy for all people and to provide literacy instruction to undereducated adults so they may acquire the basic skills necessary to function in society.
For more than 25 years, ALA has helped adults improve their basic reading, writing and math skills. Since 1978, ALA has been helping Beaver County residents gain skills essential for success. These skills are taught through ALA's well-trained network of professional instructors and volunteers.
As our learners' needs have changed, ALA has expanded its services to meet those ever-increasing needs. Free instruction is available to adults privately and at learning centers conveniently located throughout Beaver County.
ALA helps adults develop and/or improve skills in reading, writing, math, English for Speakers of Other Languages, family literacy and work-force education.
If you know someone who needs to improve basic skills, or if you would like to volunteer your time to help others unlock their full potential, please contact the ALA Office, 724-773-7810.
