Online Technology Training Opportunities

Technology Training Opportunities through August

Even though so much of the August buzz is around the SummerFest sessions on teaching technologies and more coming up at the end of the month, that doesn’t mean that the first weeks of August aren’t also full of great learning opportunities. Check them out below:

Microsoft Office 2013 classes starting this fall, and they're all free!

This year a few changes are coming to the Microsoft Office training sessions offered by ITS Training Services. First and foremost, in order to make sure you always have the up-to-date training you need, we will be transitioning all of our Microsoft Office 2010 classes to Microsoft Office 2013. This means that our sessions on Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint will walk you through the 2013 edition of the software.

In addition to updating our session offerings, we will also be offering all of these Office sessions and all of our Adobe Creative Suite classes (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) for free, whether the session is in-person, online, or on demand. We firmly believe that training on these essential topics should be affordable and accessible to the entire Penn State community and in order to make it so, we are removing the $30 fee that has been attached to some of these courses in the past. As a part of this change, the minimum number of enrollments necessary to run a session will be increasing from three to five people.

To find out more about this change and how to continue to find support for Office 2010, please visit: http://ittraining.psu.edu/2014/07/big-news-for-fall-2014-new-office-2013-sessions-all-for-free/

Training Spotlight: Using ANGEL in Your Classes

For anyone teaching or taking a course at Penn State, ANGEL is a staple technology. However, navigating the instructor view of ANGEL can sometimes be tricky, and users are often unaware of just how much the tool can do. Before classes get started this fall, we want to give all faculty, instructors, and staff who use ANGEL the opportunity to learn how to make the most out of the system.

Whether these tutorials are on software, creative, or business skills, there’s always something new to discover. In order to make sure you don’t miss out on all of the new things Lynda.com has to offer, we’ve worked with the folks at lynda.com to pick out a few new courses that might be especially relevant to our Penn State community, based on the tutorials that Penn Staters have viewed most over the past year.
