Emerging Issues and Technologies (IST 402)

This course will cover the topic of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility within search engine result pages through the use of paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion. The course will be based around the Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMCHA) which is a worldwide, in-class learning exercise for undergraduate and graduate students in keyword advertising. Working in teams and supervised by a professor, participants design, develop, implement, and manage keyword advertising campaigns for small to medium-size enterprises.
Intro to Security (CRIMJ 200)

This course focuses on a body of scholarship addressing the critical issues, policies, and complexities of the criminal justice system. It includes specific topics on key components of the system while demonstrating the intra-relationships of the system. Participants will be provided numerous opportunities to survey broadly the concept of justice as well as investigate comparative issues on a governmental level and internationally. Participants will also focus on specific social and justice system challenges such as substance abuse, family violence, minorities and justice, street crime, corrections for adults and juveniles, sentencing patterns, and ethics. Participants will analyze the global impact of criminality as they study transnational crime and the challenges faced by the collaboration of nations. Participants will be required to familiarize themselves with electronic websites, refereed journals, and national and international events for class discussion, research, and writing assignments. Participants will learn how to comprehend legal decisions and legal procedures. By the end of the course, Participants will be expected to integrate the information of the semester into comparisons and critical evaluation of the criminal justice system components.
Risk and Decisions (R M 301)

This is an undergraduate course designed to cover the introduction to risk management. The course covers the basic philosophy of risk analysis through readings from assigned literature, in-class group exercises, case studies, and projects.
