For those looking for professional development, certificate programs offer a course concentration in a specific area of study.
Certificates that offer college credit typically involve the student taking six to ten 3-credit courses, and the credits typically can be applied towards a degree.
Non-credit certificates also involve a series of courses, but don't earn college credits. Instead, non-credit certificates often award continuing education units (CEU) which officially measure and recognize the time involved in the program.
Prerequisites, curriculum, and admission requirements vary for each certificate program. Penn State certificate programs represent collaboration between the University's many colleges and departments. All credit courses are taught by University-approved faculty.
