The National Institute of Medicine has set a goal to increase the proportion of registered nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80 percent by 2020. You can be one of those nurses by enrolling in Penn State's RN to BS in Nursing degree program. Increase your professional opportunities and move up to a leadership position!

Who Should Apply

The RN to BS Nursing program prepares you to meet the many changes in the health care field by expanding and enhancing your nursing education. The degree is designed for the practicing RN who wishes to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as five semesters.

The program is designed for individuals who have graduated from an accredited nursing program (diploma or A.S.) and hold a valid United States RN license.

The RN to BS program is designed to build on what you've already accomplished. Senate legislation 42-97 Credit by Portfolio Assessment enables students to receive credit for previous nursing coursework.

Penn State awards 33 advanced standing credits in nursing in recognition of your previous basic nursing education. Previous college coursework is also considered for transfer into the nursing program.

In order to transfer college credits to Penn State, an individual must have earned a C or better in each course and must provide an official transcript to the University.
