Congratulations on becoming a Penn State Beaver student! Please review the timeline below. If you have questions that aren't addressed here, please contact Jennie Ward, staff assistant, Office of the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and Advising Program and Office of the Registrar, 724-773-3789.

If applying for financial aid, please be sure to complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.) Penn State recommends that you complete your FAFSA before March 1 in order to receive maximum consideration for all aid programs.

Mid-March

After you accept your offer from Penn State and pay your acceptance fee, you will receive instructions, via email or postcard, about how to complete your Educational Planning Survey (EPS) and online placement test.

Watch for this communication! It contains critical information about your personalized New Student Orientation (NSO) timeline!

Late March

Complete your Educational Planning Survey (EPS) and placement tests.

Educational Planning Survey
This survey will help us help you when you visit Penn State Beaver on your advising day.

Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS) Placement Test
This math placement test is accessible online from any location.

Beginning in May

Students who have completed their placement testing should expect to receive an invitation from Penn State Beaver to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). This process continues on a rolling basis as results of the Educational Planning Survey (EPS) and placement tests are received. This is a first-come, first-served system. Therefore, the sooner you pay the acceptance fee and complete the EPS and placement tests, the sooner you will be invited to attend one of our NSO sessions.

June through August 2016

The 2016 NSO sessions will be held as follows:

  • Tuesday through Friday, June 14 through June 17, 2016
  • Wednesday through Friday, July12 through July 15, 2016
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, August 9 and August 10, 2016
  • Wednesday, August 17, 2016

NSO is a half-day program that begins in the morning and ends by mid-afternoon.
